10 Steps to Reset Google Chrome Completely

For resetting your Google Chrome browser ultimately, you have to uninstall it from your Windows PC and remove all its files and folders, and then reinstall its latest version. It’s not possible to delete all files just using the Reset button on the Settings page of your browser, as passwords and bookmarks are not eliminated. So, you have to reset the Chrome by uninstalling it, if Google Chrome not working correctly.

Step 1 – Click the Windows Start menu and choose the ‘Control Panel’ to open it. In Windows 8.1, you have to right-click the Windows logo to enlarge the Power User menu and choose the ‘Control Panel’ to launch it.

Step 2 – In the ‘Programs’ section, choose the ‘Uninstall a program’ option to go to the Uninstall/Change a Program section, it shows the list of installed programs on your PC.

Step 3 – Choose the ‘Google Chrome’ and then the ‘Uninstall’ option. If you didn’t exit the browser, the Uninstaller asks you to close the program. Click the ‘Uninstall’ button again after that.

Step 4 – Select the ‘Also delete your browsing data’ checkbox and click ‘Uninstall’ to remove it from your PC completely. It may take about a minute.

Step 5 – In Windows 8.1, choose the ‘File Explorer’ option from the ‘Power User’ menu to open the program. In the Windows 7 operating system, click the Windows Start and choose the ‘Computer’ icon.

Step 6 – Move to the ‘View’ tab under the File Explorer and select the ‘Hidden Items’ checkbox under the Show/Hide to show hidden folders and files.

Step 7 – Navigate to the ‘C: \Users\Your_Username\AppData\Local’ folder and then right-click the ‘Google’ and select the ‘Delete’ option to erase the folder. If the Windows contains a partition that has a different letter, change ‘C’ with an appropriate letter.

Step 8 – Access the ‘Program Files’ folder on the computer partition and remove the ‘Google’ folder. To remove a folder permanently without moving it to the Recycle Bin, you can press and hold the ‘Shift’ key and then press the ‘Delete’ button.

Step 9 – Now, go to the Chrome official website and find the latest version of your browser. Click the ‘Download Now’ button, followed by the ‘Accept and Install’ option to agree to the Terms and conditions of Chrome and download the program.

Step 10 – Later, double-click the downloaded file to install Chrome on your PC. The process usually takes a minute. Continue with the steps to set the Chrome as a default browser. If you wish to sync information, then sign into the Google account.
